Citizen Kanebridge Lodge

Our Heritage

Citizen Kanebridge Lodge is proudly rooted in the historic village of Berrima, New South Wales. Founded in 2021, the Lodge reflects the values of inclusivity, creativity and community—ideals that also define the vibrant Southern Highlands.

Established in 1833 and inspired by classic English towns, Berrima has grown from a quiet village into a thriving tourism destination, recently named New South Wales Top Tourism Town.

Rooted in Berrima's Spirit

We’re proud to have established roots in the storied village of Berrima, New South Wales—home to Citizen Kanebridge Lodge, Australia’s first private members’ club to truly unite city sophistication with country charm.

Citizen Kanebridge Lodge was built on the pillars of inclusivity, creativity and community—values that continue to define Berrima itself. These shared ideals have allowed us to foster genuine connections with our members and the wider Southern Highlands community.

Berrima’s Timeless Heritage Endures

First envisioned in 1833, Berrima is one of Australia’s best-preserved heritage villages. Inspired by classic English towns, surveyor Robert Hoddle designed the township with striking civic buildings, including the Berrima Gaol and Courthouse, alongside 13 bustling public houses.

Tourism Triumphs
in
Historic Berrima

By the 1860s, Berrima seemed destined for regional prominence, with plans for the Sydney–Goulburn rail line to pass through. When that didn’t eventuate, the village became a quiet waypoint on the road south.

But the 1980s brought new life. The opening of the bypass helped reignite tourism, transforming Berrima into the thriving destination it is today—most recently recognised with the New South Wales Top Tourism Town award.
